On 08th March 2021, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between KIU and the National Dangerous Drug Control Board (NDDCB) with regards to the Development Oriented Research (DOR) Project functioning under the KIU Higher Education Society Linkage Cell (HEI-SL-Cell). KIU DOR Project; “Factors Associated with Relapses of Substance Use Disorder after the Residential Rehabilitation Programme and to Develop Best Practice Rehabilitation Intervention for Drug Addiction” is a research, supported by the Accelerating Higher Education Expansion and Development (AHEAD) Operation of the Ministry of Education and funded by the World Bank. The research is focused on proposing a culturally appropriate best rehabilitation intervention to substance abuse-related relapses. MOU was signed by the Chairman of NDDCB Dr. Laknath Welagedara and the Chairman of KIU, Dr. Jagath Seneviratne to set out the intent to forge a stronger relationship with the KIU DOR Team and closer collaborations in the project. The event was attended by many other distinguished personnel such as the Director-General of NDDCB; Mrs.Bhadrani Senanayake and the members of the NDDCB Research Division, HEI-SL-Director, Dr. Indrapala Chandrasekaram, and the Coordinator of the DOR Project and the Head of the Research Unit; Mr. Akila Jaymaha and the HEI-SL-Cell members. The event concludes a milestone of the DOR Project.
