Department of Medical Science in Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a field of complementary medicine with a growing popularity worldwide. KIU Sri Lanka offers a number of programs under the department of medical science in acupuncture for the purpose of catering to a wider range of student populations, imparting knowledge and skills of medical acupuncture at different levels. The Bachelor of science honors in medical science in acupuncture is the first ever medical acupuncture degree program in Sri Lanka to be recognized and accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and University Grants Commission.

All the programs offered by the department are designed to produce qualified acupuncture practitioners to meet local as well as global health care demands. The department of medical science in acupuncture is equipped with facilities and a dedicated academic staff required for on campus teaching and clinical training, as well as for distance mode teaching through E learning methods, with a very own acupuncture clinic for clinical practice.  It also offers free treatment for interested individuals by qualified medical professionals. The curriculum is further provided with on campus laboratory, library and e-library facilities.
